1. I am...

... taking up space in the northeast United States. Born in 1960, that makes me old as dirt to most of you.

My handle I swiped from one of the Simpson's episodes where Bart is prank calling Moe's bar and asks for Homer, Homer Sexual. Sorry, I thought it was pretty damn funny! :p

I spent my summers (up until I turned 18) living on the Atlantic oceanfront, about a mile from a huge entertainment center (Salisbury, Mass) where I wiled away most of my time. While I was too young to have caught the *really* early years of arcade machines, I didn't miss much. Gunfight, Boot Hill, Death Race, the Cinematronics games - I played these games when they were brand spanking new and they inspired in me a lifelong interest in electronic gaming.

I've been a classic console collector since there were classic consoles. My collection would easily fill a min-van.

2. I got into MAME...

I had been interested in emulation since way back in '93 when I tried making a 2600 emulator, but systems just weren't up to the task then.

I got into MAME shortly after I was introduced to modern emulation (in the form of Nesticle, whose name still gives me a chuckle) by a friend/cow-orker round about '97. I immediately went searching for all information about emulation on the internet and stumbled across "Daves Classics" and the Usenet newsgroups.

I've been alternately (and sometimes simultaneously) helping - and pissing off - folks on Usenet ever since.

3. I love playing...

... the old classics of my youth - games I never had enough money to really get good at (Dad's pockets were only so deep). Space Invaders, Asteroids, Pacman and Galaxian were always my favorites in the arcade, but I also spent time on all the other interesting machines.

The modern games just don't have the same heart the older games have (Except Puzzle Bobble, in which the animation is kind of cute and silly).

4. I would like to say to Nicola and the MAME team...

Words fail me. You guys are simply amazing. Don't ever quit, your work will live on forever.
