1. I am...

. . . spreading the gospel of MAME to the masses as fast as I can.

OK, a 31 year old computer engineer living in the north suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, USA who builds networking equipment for a living (routers, switches, etc.)

I grew up absolutely addicted to arcade games of pretty much any sort. The home systems and PC games were nice, but nothing was like the arcade. The high point was the day, as a teen, I befriended one of the employees in the arcade in the shopping mall where I worked; we'd close up our respective shops at the end of the day and then play games into the night courtesy of his key ring.

2. I got into MAME...

. . . recently (early 2001) after having a discussion with a co-worker. It started with a rant about inefficient software, wound it's way through a discussion of NASA and game designers doing really impressive things with miniscule processors and memory, and then a discussion of those cherished arcade games.

He pointed me to MAME and the rest is history.

3. I love playing...

My old favorites which were mostly classics or games that I thought introduced something different. A list? Galaxian, Missile Command, Punch Out, Street Fighter, Joust, Sinistar, and Hyper Sports.

4. I would like to say to Nicola and the MAME team...

As much as I want to gush my thanks and offer of dinner & a beer if you're in the neighborhood, I think the following will do more justice to you guys:

At work, we called in some help from a IC vendor. One of the guys who came had previously worked at Williams designing their hardware. During lunch, I fired up Robotron 2084 (one of his games) for him. He thanks you for appreciating and carrying on his work.
