Profile for Scoops
Image of Scoops

1. I am...

... Canadian. Yes... that will do, nicely.

I'm actually Marc Comeau but my friends - for no readily apparent reason - started calling me "Scoops" about two years ago. The "1300" comes from the processor in my PC; I figured Scoops wasn't all that original, and this way I could make sure I got a consistent email address, etc.

I am 24 (07/2003 at writing) and live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Naturally, being stereotypically Canadian, I love hockey (Go, Leafs! Go!) and beer.

If you ever head to New Hampshire, check out the FunSpot in Meredith. My pic was taken beside the same machine the Pac-Man world record was set on.

2. I got into MAME...

... at version 0.36final. I had been using Callus to play Final Fight and Street Fighter II Rainbow, and started wondering if I could find some way to play Xybots (first arcade game I ever played) on my PC. I stumbled onto MAME32 and the rest, as they say, is history....

3. I love playing...

Xybots - my memory of that game has never left me...
Metal Slug - My favourite of the phenomenal series.
Spy Hunter - Love that Peter Gunn theme!
Time Pilot - Reminds me of the C64 club I was a member of, back in the 80's (although this is prettier)
Street Fighter II (and later) - This was the heyday of my arcade life, 1992-94 (plus there was a Rainbow machine at the corner store)
KOF - Probably my favourite series of games.
Last Blade 2 - I love Neo-Geo, and this game particularily.
Macross Plus - Great anime and a great game, just can't get enough. Now with sound! Phenomenal!

4. I would like to say to Nicola and the MAME team...

What you guys have put together is simply stunning. I thought it was a phenomenal effort when I just played the games, but since I peaked at the code, I'm starting to realize how committed you guys must be.

Hats off to you! And beers on me, eh?
