1. I am...

... curious. I was put on this earth to learn it all, and it was all going great until I got into videogames.

The first videogame I played was Astrosmash! on the Intellivision. From then on, I was addicted to the dancing photons. I moved up to a C64, which kept me busy for years, and then years later came MAME. Somehow it now seems to me that I was put on this earth to play it all!

2. I got into MAME...

... about 5 years ago, when I got my first PC: an old P166/32 with a 2GB drive for about a hundred bucks from a friend. Because of the special place Commodore had in my heart, I turned to PCs only a couple of years ago.

Once I got on the internet, I started looking around and came across The Vault. MAME had the greater number of games emulated, so I downloaded that.... and then followed the quest for ROMs, which for me back then meant downloading the same ROM 4-5 times from different places just to try and get a working copy. I got up to a couple of hundred, and then the drive on my computer just died.

I chose that time to upgrade (to a K6-II 450) but for some reason I didn't reinstall MAME immediately, staying away for about a year and a half. When I came back I found mame.dk and alt.games.mame. My fate was sealed: I was to be forever addicted to MAME and alt.games.mame.

3. I love playing...

... tons of different games! The variety offered by MAME is what I find amazing.

Some of my favourites (in no particular order) are: Bubble Bobble, R-Type, Shinobi, Wonderboy in Monsterland, Black Tiger, Twin Cobra, Ghost'n'Goblins, and tons of new favourites I never would have found without MAME, such as the Puzzle Bobble series, the Dungeon and Dragons games, Uopoko, both Puyo Puyo games (incredibly addictive when played with a friend!) and many shooters and platformers whose names I can't always remember. ;-)

4. I would like to say to Nicola and the MAME team...

... thank you sooooooo much! MAME has made it possible for me to play all the games from my childhood again.

All the hours of enjoyment I have from MAME are something that you can't put a price on, but having it for free is like... well actually, I don't know anything like MAME. So I'll say it's pretty special, to say the least!

There are no words to express how thankful I am for MAME.
