1. I am...

... Romcollector (Wayne).

The name was given to me by a couple of friends who thought I was crazy to spend countless hours originally trying to get my first complete set of ROMS. Every time they called around I was always downloading them, and not too long later along came the name and it has stuck since.

2. I got into MAME...

...not to sure, but it has been at least 3 years ago - .57 release is current at writing this.

I found MAME completely by accident as I typed ASTEROIDS in my search engine, looking for some cheap knock-off to play. To my surprise I did some reading and couldn't believe that the REAL games were actually available. I think the site was JOSE-Qs (RIP).

3. I love playing...

... man, that is hard to sum up in a couple of games. From the late 70s to mid/late 80s I lived in the arcades. But to try and narrow it down:

Berzerk - is my all-time fave. The graphics *are* cheezy butthere is something about that game that drove me nuts as a kid.
PAC MAN - enough said!
Astro Blaster - I think it was the warp button that got me hooked as I could slam through the waves until you needed that button.
Donkey Kong & Donkey Kong JR - these have to be in the Top-10 hall of fame. The same four levels everytime... but just a bit faster and harder than before.
Galaxian, Time Pilot, Super Pac Man, and Track & Field were also some of my all time faves.

4. I would like to say to Nicola and the MAME team...

I don't really know if there are words to express how much I appreciate all that you have done for probably tens of thousands of complete strangers.

You have brought back old memories: sounds, experiences, sometimes even smells playing these great old games. My son, Thomas (8) would also like to thank you as he really enjoys Gauntlet.

I can't believe that after all this time you all still do this for free... it certainly says something about the MAME community.

If you guys ever make it to CANADA, look me up - beers are on ME!
